San Diego - Scott Peters, candidate for City Council in District 1, today announced his campaign raised $32,000 in Its first 41 days. In addition to money raised, Peters invested $50,000 of his own money, bringing his total money received to $81,997 for an end of report cash on hand of $76,388.
"I am very encouraged by the early response to my campaign," Peters said. "The San Diegans I have met have been very receptive and encouraging, and have responded well to my Ideas about economic development and planning for our future growth. When people in the 1st District and throughout San Diego hear my message for continued improvement of our quality of life - providing for safe neighborhoods and quality schools - they have become enthusiastic supporters," Peters concluded.
Scott Peters, 41, is an environmental attorney and former San Diego Deputy County Counsel who brings a wealth of private sector and government experience to the City Council campaign. He has served as an economist for the United States Environmental Protection Agency and is an active public servant in his community. Peters is a La Jolla Town Council Trustee as well as the former President of the Friends of La Jolla Library. Peters also coaches youth soccer and baseball.
