THIS WEEK, candidates for San Diego's 1 st city council district filed their financial disclosure reports for the period ending June 30 th. I was pleased to report more than $100,000 in campaign contributions between February 20th and June 30th. This is more than double the $49,212 raised by my opponent. While having three-times the amount of cash-on-hand certainly gives us an edge, we
still have the three most important months of the campaign ahead of us. We are off to a great start with the vast community support we have received. Your continued financial support will allow us to effectively communicate my plans for both District 1 and San Diego. In addition, it will help convey that I have the experience to get the job done. If we continue to rally this kind of support, I know our campaign will be celebrating on November 7th . I am very grateful to those who have come out in support of my campaign, and I look forward to meeting many more of my neighbors in the months to come.

FROM NOW UNTIL NOVEMBER my campaign needs you. Your energy and enthusiasm are vital to our success. It is your hard work that makes the reward possible. If you would like to GET MORE INVOLVED in the Scott Peters' campaign, please call our campaign Headquarters at (858) 729-9920, or visit our website at www.scottpeters.net.

Fundraising is Important, but the Fun Part of the Campaign is Talking to Voters. Last weekend we had a great walk in Rancho PeŒasquitos, where the concerns were about protecting the canyon from development, the extension of Black Mountain Road, and the completion of SR-56. I was pleased to be able to report the recent success of the SR-56 Task Force in helping to secure $25 million in this year's state budget, needed for the completion of this vital transportation corridor.
MY FAMILY has been a huge help, including my fourth grade daughter, who sometimes joins me in walking the district (she's not fast, but she's convincing). My parents, who are always happy to help out, joined me at the annual National Night Out Against Crime in the La Jolla Village community (below).

Councilman Mathis gave some helpful reminders about protecting ourselves from violent and property crime. Because public safety is a top priority, I'm proud to have the support of the SD Police Officers Association, the men and women who put their lives on the line to keep our neighborhoods safe.
